K is for Kids

Having kids is the one thing I've always known I've wanted to do.  I considered changing my major about ten times in college.  I've changed my mind about my career choice since leaving college about six times, and believe me, you don't want to shop with me....ever.  Kids, on the other hand, is one of a hand full of things that I've never wavered on.  I would love to do it the traditional way.  Fall in love, get married, have the kids, live happily ever after.  However, I have 2 aunts that have proven to me that you don't have to do it that way and life can still be amazing, so if I have to take an alternate route, so be it.

At this exact point in life, kids aren't practical, but hopefully it won't be too far off in the future.

J is for Juggle

Okay, so if I'm being completely honest, I was having the hardest time thinking of something for the letter "J."  I literally thought of juggling as I was opening my internet browser.  I don't particularly have a strong desire to juggle, but why not learn?  It could be a fun party trick!

Honestly though, it was the only thing I could think of outside of jousting and jungle cruise.  I have no desire to joust...a little too dangerous for me, and the armor you have to wear is super heavy!  As for a jungle cruise...if that's something you can actually do, sign me up!  If it's just a ride at Disneyland...been there, done that, not my favorite ride.

Anyone else have any good bucket list ideas for the letter "J?"

I is for Ice Skate

So this is something I have actually attempted once before.  I went with my friends my freshman year of high school and was awful at it!  Mostly because I think I was so scared, that I was never going to be able to do it.

Now that I'm not so afraid of a few bruises or breaking something, I think it's time to give it another go!  Plus, if I want to marry a hockey player, I feel like I should be able to skate.  It's only right.

I will gladly take tips from anyone who didn't grow up in a desert like I did and actually knows how to skate!

Blog Update 4/10/12, 11:11 AM: I should probably note that I'm not actually engaged to said hockey player.  That's mostly just wishful thinking...and I would hate for him to hate me before we even meet!  ;)

H is for Hang Gliding and Horse Back Riding

I couldn't chose between these two activities for my "H" post, so we'll talk about both!

Hang gliding wasn't something I'd ever really thought about until I went on a cruise a few years ago.  Hang gliding was one of the activities offered at one of our ports.  It looked like so much fun, but I couldn't afford to do it then.  Ever since, it's been on my list of things to do, and hopefully the next time I take a vacation to a place that offers it, I'll be able to do it.

Horse back riding is something I've wanted to learn since I was a kid.  For no reason other than it looks like fun, and horses a pretty.  There are a lot of places around here that offer trail rides along the hiking trails in our mountains, so that will be something I'll be looking into after summer passes and the weather is nice again.

Now - unrelated note.  I apologize for being a blogging slacker.  I've been a little under the weather the last few days and haven't been on the computer for long enough to come visit everyone.  Thank you to everyone who has left me comments.  I am reading them all.  I promise this week I'll make my way around to visit.

G is for Garden

I've always wanted to have a garden.  I love flowers.  I love fresh herbs and veggies.  Unfortunately, while I don't think I necessarily have a black thumb, it's definitely not the right shade of green!  I have, in the past, successfully killed a bamboo plant.  Supposedly, you aren't supposed to be able to kill bamboo plants.  They're supposed to be really low maintenance.  I killed one.

So I'd really like to have a little garden at some point where I can grow lovely flowers and herbs and veggies, and not kill them!

F is for Fifty States

This one is pretty self explanatory I think.  I want to visit all 50 states.  I have a couple of rules I've given myself on this one as far as what qualifies as "visiting" a state.  Mainly, I actually have to do something while I'm there.  Just sleeping there, just eating a meal there, just sitting in the airport there or just driving through doesn't count.  At least not for me.  For instance, I've never stayed overnight in Pennsylvania, but I have gone to Philly with friends for a baseball game, so I count it.  On the flip side, I've both slept and eaten meals in New Mexico, but I don't count it as that's literally all I did there.  I didn't experience anything out out of the ordinary while I was there.  It was simply a pit stop.  Those are my rules for myself.

I've made an okay start to this bucket list item.  I've been able to cross the following states off of my list:

  1. Arizona
  2. California
  3. Nevada
  4. Alaska
  5. Oklahoma
  6. Tennessee
  7. Virginia
  8. West Virginia
  9. Georgia
  10. New York
  11. Connecticut
  12. Delaware
  13. Pennsylvania
  14. Texas
  15. Maryland
So....15 down and 35 to go!

E is for Eggplant

Okay, so keeping in trend with the cooking posts I've had the last few days.  Eggplant.  I love to eat it.  However, every time I try and cook it, it never turns out tasty.  Once it turned out dry and papery.  Another time it turned out mushy and kind of slimy.

I don't understand why it never turns out the way I intend.  So one of my bucket list goals has become conquering eggplant.  If anyone has suggestions I would be more than happy to take them!
